In Memoriam - Paul Harmon

It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of my dear friend and business partner, Paul Harmon.

Paul was more than a colleague – he was a pioneer, a teacher, and a guiding force whose influence shaped not only our work, but the broader field of intelligent systems and business process thinking. In the early days of artificial intelligence, when the possibilities were still uncertain and often misunderstood, Paul stood at the forefront. His vision, curiosity, and discipline helped translate complex ideas into practical tools and frameworks that organizations around the world continue to rely on today.

As an author and a co-founder of BPTrends.info, Paul created more than a website – he built a community of thought leaders and process practitioners, bringing much needed professionalism to a nascent practice. Through the BPTrends monthly knowledge sharing, he encouraged thoughtful dialogue and elevated the practice of business process management globally. His commitment to clarity, rigor, and generosity of insight defined everything he touched.

To me personally, Paul was a trusted partner, a steady voice of inspiration and reason, and a dear friend. His wisdom, integrity, and quiet humor will be profoundly missed by all that knew him.

Paul leaves behind a legacy that endures in the ideas he advanced, the community he nurtured, and the many people he inspired. We are all better for having known him.
