Class Notes: On the Role of Project Management Skills in Managing Innovation Processes

Jan vom Brocke and Sonia Lippe focus on the importance of project management skills when managing innovation processes. Arguing that there is no “one size fits all approach,” they propose instead applying a management approach designed for specific projects. In their Article, they also present a taxonomy that enables managers to analyze the nature of different tasks to be conducted in a project.

Harmon on BPM: Once More on Business Process Methodologies

In his Column this month, Paul describes the principal features of eight business process methodologies which he has categorized into three groups- (1) top down, (2) Incremental or continuous improvement, and (3) specialized process methodologies. APQC conducted a survey to understand how process frameworks are implemented and, in this Article, Holly Lyke-Ho Gland presents conclusions drawn from the survey questions. Future Articles in the series will include adoption and implementation practices and implementation challenges.
